The Ministry of Tourism and International Transport is interested in implementing a project to empower vendors to use technology, such as smartphones and tablets, to facilitate payments by cards.

With such technology, vendors can capitalize on sales from customers who prefer to pay with cards, as opposed to cash.  Payments would go directly to vendors’ bank accounts, reducing their need to carry large sums of cash and the risk of theft and loss.

Vendors and small entrepreneurs who work in the tourism industry are invited to a meeting to learn about this opportunity on Tuesday, February 4, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and the Business Development Manager of MasterCard, Michelle Alvarez, will give presentations on the Bank-in-the-Box initiative.

Persons interested in attending and receiving more information should call 535-7500, 535-7517, or email skeetet@tourism.gov.bb.
