Venezuelan Ambassador to Barbados, Jos?? Gonzales F??bres today paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator Maxine McClean, at her Culloden Road office.

The two discussed on a number of issues of mutual importance, including the need for citizens of both countries to be more knowledgeable in each other’s language, as well as matters related to energy, air services and the hemispheric economies.

The Ambassador presented Minister McClean with a document outlining proposals for closer bilateral cooperation as she gave the assurance that Barbados would continue to work to improve the already good relations that exist between the two OAS members.

Barbados and Venezuela have enjoyed strong bilateral relations since the establishment of formal diplomatic ties in 1969.?? This relationship has been solidified by the decision of both countries to open resident missions. Barbados has maintained an embassy in Caracas since 1974, and Venezuela was the fourth country to establish a resident embassy here.
