At least one tourism organisation is working to assist in stemming the cruelty meted out to dogs on the island.

It is the Barbados Entrepreneurship and Tourism Association (BETA). The organisation, through its President, Dawne Pollard, recently presented the Central Veterinary Clinic with a donation of towels, mats and linens.

She also made a further donation on behalf of BETA and friends of BETA, of $1,000 along with towels, mats and linens, to “Ocean Acres Animal Sanctuary”.

According to Ms. Pollard this was in support of their Spay and Neuter Programme, in an effort to curb over population of animals on the island.

“BETA is pleased for the opportunity to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. What happens on island will affect how Barbados is viewed on the outside and eventually affect our tourism industry. We are very sensitive to what is being said about our island and the lack of caring for our domestic animals,” she remarked.
