Ways of strengthening the existing relations between Beijing and Bridgetown were the focal point of discussion, when the Vice Minister of the Communist Party of China, Chen Feng Xiang, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.

During the meeting last Friday, March 4, at Hilton Barbados, the two counterparts discussed a range of issues of mutual interest to both countries.

The Prime Minister alluded to the fruitful relations that both nations had enjoyed since 1977 and added: "… We have enjoyed very friendly and productive relations and that is a tribute to the goodwill of both countries, expressed over that very substantial period of time."

Barbados and China established diplomatic ties on May 30, 1977.
