Members of the public are invited to join the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, when they host a webinar entitled: Care of the Elderly in a Rapidly Ageing Society, on Thursday, September 22, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will be streamed on the Ministry’s Facebook page and persons may also join by clicking here and the password is Ageing2022.

Panelists are: Director of the National Assistance Board, Colleen Walcott; Special Advisor to the Government on Elder Affairs, Cynthia Forde; Geronotologist, Dr. Ambrose Ramsay; Gerontology Researcher, Trudy Rowe-Weekes and President of the Alzheimer’s Association, Pamelia Brereton.

Persons are invited to join the discussion and give their input on the subject as Barbados continues to commemorate Elder Awareness Month.

Barbados celebrates its seniors during the month of September, and sheds further light on the challenges they face in their later years. These range from restricted mobility and lifestyle, to being more financially and socially dependent, the psychological and emotional pain of losing loved ones and elder abuse.

The webinar will be moderated by Communications Consultant to the Ministry of People Empowerment, Ian Bourne.
