A fresh attempt will be made to reinforce the importance of employees working together to build a better society, when the Productivity Council hosts its annual Week of Excellence programme.
Under the theme: Organisations Recognising Employee Excellence: A Key Towards Building a Better Economy, the activities will get under way with a church service on Sunday, February 24, at the St. George Parish Church, Glebe, St. George, starting at 9:15 a.m.
The following day, Monday, February 25, the opening ceremony will commence at 8:30 a.m. at the Grande Salle, Tom Adams Financial Centre, Church Village, St. Michael.?? Among the speakers slated to address the conference include Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Delisle Worrell, Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, John Williams and President of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), Cedric Murrell.
On Tuesday, February 26, there will be presentations from key stakeholders including the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Barbados Workers Union (BWU).?? The sessions will be held at the Union’s, Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael headquarters, starting at 8:30 a.m.
The discussions will move to the BWU’s Labour College at Mangrove, St. Philip, on Wednesday, February 27, where Training Officer with the Productivity Council, Karen Collins, will deliver a presentation on Achieving Employee Excellence: Impacting Better Business Results.?? This will be followed by an interactive discussion by Human Resource Consultant, Ed Bushell.
It will be the turn of the schools on Thursday, February 28, when Client Service Advisor with the National Institute for Service Excellence (NISE), Carolyn Forde, will speak on the topic: The Guiding Principles of Good Service, at the Alleyne School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew.?? It begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 10:30 a.m.
On Friday, March 1, the Ministry of Labour, Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael, will be the venue for day five of the conference.?? During the sessions, Senior Economist at the Productivity Council, Oliva Chase, will present an overview of the findings of the CTUSAB Labour Survey.?? This will be followed by a discussion entitled: Implications of the Survey Findings and a panel discussion on The Contributions of the Trade Union Movement in the Post-tripartite Era: Implications for the Way Forward.
The activities will culminate in Bridgetown on Saturday, March 2, with the Taking Service Excellence to the Streets campaign which is slated to kick off from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Representatives from NISE, the Productivity Council, the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, the Office of Public Sector Reform, the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CTUSAB, will distribute memorabilia to shoppers in Broad Street, Roebuck Street, High Street and Fairchild Street.
