Children and adults are invited to join members of the newly-formed National Task Force on Wellness on a hike, which starts at Bath Beach, St. John, at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15.

The hike, which is one of the activities for Caribbean Wellness Week, will cover three miles over two and a half hours.

From Bath, hikers will proceed via horse trails to the site of the Earth Satellite Station, up the hillside to Welch Town and then along the jungle trails, emerging on the road next to Pot House Spring.  The remaining route will take hikers downhill to the coast, along the Great Train Line through Congor Bay and back to Bath Beach.

Participants are advised to bring at least one litre of water and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.  Hats, sunscreen, long pants, long-sleeved shirts and energy bars are also recommended.

Meanwhile, activities continue at polyclinics, including the David Thompson Health and Social Services Complex, which will have an all-day celebration on Friday, September 14.

Activities there will include a mental wellness and stress management seminar at 10:00 a.m., line dancing at 11:00 a.m. and an aerobics and gym class at 1:00 p.m. Throughout the day, staff will also be manning help desks to provide health education on asthma, hypertension, diabetes, nutrition and pharmacy.
