The Barbados Association of Guidance Counsellors (BAGC) will host a workshop from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5, on the topic Building School Family-Community Partnerships: Maximising your School Counselling Services and Impact.

The two-day workshop, which will be conducted at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, until Wednesday, April 6, runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day.

Vice President of BAGC, Dr. Patricia Welch, will deliver brief remarks at the start tomorrow, at 9:00 a.m.  Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, is also expected to attend.

Former guidance counsellor at the Lodge School, now professor at Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Julia Bryan, will be its main facilitator.  

Dr. Bryan was recently awarded the American Counseling Association Extended Research Award and the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Mentor Award.  She is also set to receive this month the recognition of American Counseling Association (ACA) Fellow, one of the most prestigious honours in the counselling profession.

She will be assisted by Manager, College Success Programs, Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia, Dr. Lynette Henry.
