The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will conduct a workshop entitled: Climate Change and Its Potential Impact on Agriculture, on Tuesday, November 27, in the conference room at the Ministry’s headquarters, Graeme Hall, Christ Church, at 9:30 a.m.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Extensions, Barney Callender, the workshop will mainly focus on how farmers can seek to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
The areas of discussion will include livestock production with respect to how farmers can protect animals from heat stress, provide better nutrition and utilise tolerable breeds. Crop production; the use of protected agriculture (greenhouse technology), drought mitigation and water harvesting techniques; and utilising climate data, agro-meteorology and early warning systems, will also be discussed.
Farmers, as well as interested persons in the agricultural sector, are invited to attend the workshop.
