Approximately 70 public and private sector employees, as well as civil society members, will soon get an opportunity to learn about the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and its available resources.

The Economic Affairs Division of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, in conjunction with the GCF, will convene a half-day national sensitisation workshop next Monday, December 7, at the Grande Salle, Central Bank of Barbados, Tom Adams Financial Centre, Bridgetown.

Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Christopher Sinckler, will deliver an address, while Permanent Secretary in the Economic Affairs Division, Dr. Louis Woodroffe, will give the opening remarks.

There will be a number of key presentations during the workshop, which is designed to inform stakeholders about the GCF and provide an overview of its project proposal submission process.

The GCF was established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to channel support to the developing world to address the adverse impacts of climate change.

It will provide equal funding for low-emission and climate-resilient projects and programmes. In addition, the GCF has a Readiness Programme in place to assist countries in accessing and using its resources to support the development of programming pipelines that will facilitate the paradigm shift to low-emission and climate-resilient development.
