“Intra-Family Gender-Based Violence Prevention” will come under the microscope next week when the Ministry of Health hosts a three-day workshop on the subject.

The workshop, which runs from Monday, November 12, to Wednesday, November 14, will be held at the Pan-American Health Organisation, Dayrell’s Road, St. Michael from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

A key goal of the seminar is to enable participants to be more effective in the management of intra-family issues by examining those related to sex and gender and the relationship between gender and development.

It is also aimed at assisting participants in evaluating the dynamics of violence in the family.
Participants will be drawn from the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Social Transformation, the Royal Barbados Police Force and relevant non-governmental organisations.

Medical Officer of Health at the Maurice Byer Polyclinic, Dr. Cheryl McCollin, will deliver the opening remarks at the workshop.
