The Green Economy will be the focus of a workshop to be hosted by the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development and the International Labour Organization (ILO) this week.

The workshop takes place from Wednesday, February 17, to Friday, February 19, in the Main Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Warrens Office Complex, Warrens, St. Michael, beginning at 9:00 a.m. both days.

The session will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors, Non-Governmental Organisations, training institutions and other implementation agencies involved in the ???greening??? of enterprises; skills development for ???green??? and better jobs; and the creation of enabling environments for sustainable and ???green??? enterprises.

Participants are expected to formulate the key components of action programmes for a green economy with a focus on job, skills and enterprise development at the country and sector level.

Minister of Labour, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, will deliver remarks at the opening ceremony on Wednesday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Director of the ILO???s Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean, Claudia Coenjaerts; and Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Sub-Regional Office for the Caribbean, Vincent Sweeney, are also expected to address the event.
