Using Education Data: Best practices and Lessons Learned from other countries will be the focus of a workshop, early next month, when the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), hosts a one-day meeting of principals of secondary schools from across the island.

The seminar forms part of a series of joint meetings on the Education Sector Studies/Reform that run from March 28 to April 6.??

It will be conducted on Tuesday, April 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Illuminat (B’dos) Ltd, White Park Road, St. Michael. The seminar will examine, among other things, education performance in Barbados and the availability of educational data/statistics needed for various project documents required to facilitate the development of Government’s Education and Training Sectors Strategic Plan 2011-2021.

The data will also assist the IDB in the development of the Project Profile for the proposed loan agreement and facilitate Government’s access to IDB loan funds.

Principals and data collection designates for their schools are invited to attend the event which will be addressed by Minister of Education and Human Resource Development, Ronald Jones; and the Deputy Chief Education Officer (Planning and Research), Erwin Greaves. IDB’s Education Lead Specialist, Carlos Herran, and the

Senior Education Officer, Planning and Research; Dr. Roderick Rudder, will also make presentations.
