Barbadians who are interested in learning about genealogy will have an opportunity to do so with the staging of a series of workshops, hosted by The Archives Department and the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.

The first workshop in the series will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Archives Department, Black Rock, St. James.

Participants will learn how to compile a family tree and see what records are available to do so. They can also explore slave advertisements in the recently digitized Barbados Mercury Newspapers in an effort to locate African ancestors.

To register for the workshop persons should call 535-0051, 535-0052 or email archives@barbados.gov.bb. Space is limited.
