Students from primary and secondary schools will have their work – essays, books and other literary pieces – displayed in some of the major bookstores and libraries across Barbados on Tuesday, April 23 – World Book Day.

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training is mounting the exhibits utilizing various media to showcase students’ work on that day, which is being held under the theme “Share a Story”.

Members of the public may view the displays at the following venues: Brydens (Bridgetown); Cloister Book Store (Sheraton); Pages Bookstore (Cave Shepherd); DAYS Bookstore (Bridgetown); The Book Source (Barbados Community College); the National Library Service headquarters at Fairchild Street; and the Valley Public Library, St. George.

Additionally, students’ original work will be published on the Media Resource Department’s Facebook and YouTube pages, and broadcast on its 91.3 FM radio station. Students will be recorded while reading/performing their original stories and essays.

As part of World Book Day activities, the ministry is also asking individuals, church groups, community groups, service clubs and organizations to donate new or gently used, high-quality children’s books to primary schools from Tuesday, April 23, to Tuesday, April 30.
