With the increased prevalence of chronic/ non-communicable diseases such as diabetes in today’s society, the public health nurses of the Edgar Cochrane Polyclinic will highlight this illness by commemorating World Diabetes Day.??

To this end there will be a week of activities commencing this Sunday, November 14, with a service at the St. Matthias Church, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Events will continue on Wednesday, November 17, with a movie night to which members of the public are invited. It will get under way at 3:30 p.m. at the polyclinic, Wildey, St. Michael.

The following day, Thursday, November 18, nurses will host an Open Day from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Featured speaker, Dr. Tania Whitby, will discuss a number of pertinent issues related to the management of diabetes. Also on the agenda, from 10:30 a.m. will be a diabetes quiz, blood sugar testing, as well as demonstrations on how persons can monitor their blood glucose.

?????????????????? The week will culminate on Friday, November 19 with a games evening at 3:30 p.m. at the polyclinic.
