The Ministry of Health and the National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise will join forces on Thursday, April 7 to celebrate World Health Day with a free fitness event to be held in Independence Square, Bridgetown.

Dubbed Get Moving – Beat Diabetes, the event begins at 2:00 p.m. with blood sugar and blood pressure checks by the Diabetes Association of Barbados and the Barbados Diabetes Foundation.

Patrons will also benefit from weight measurement and body mass index calculations as well as access a variety of health-related information.

The exercise segment begins at 4:00 p.m. with a tai chi warm up after which there will be line dancing, a boot camp session and the launch of the Get Women Moving community movement.

The evening activities will include Zumba, starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by a soca jump up with a special appearance by calypsonian Blood. The event concludes at 7:00 p.m. with a yoga session.
