The Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will celebrate World Statistics Day with a week of activities from October 17 to October 22.

Under the theme: Celebrating the Many Achievements of Official Statistics, there will be a church service on Sunday, October 17 at the Bethel Methodist Church, Bay Street, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m. Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Chris Sinckler will attend.

On Tuesday, October 19, statistician Todne Woods of the BSS will conduct a seminar on the Revised Gross Domestic Product in the Lecture Room, Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael at 9:00 a.m.

A highlight of the week on Wednesday, October 20, World Statistics Day, will be addresses by UNICEF’s Resident Representative Tom Olsen and statistician Shawn Skinner. Mr. Olsen will speak on the topic Regional and International Statistics, while Mr. Skinner will discuss National Statistics. ??The event will be held at the National Union of Public Workers’ Auditorium, Dalkeith, St. Michael at 9:00 a.m.

The week will culminate with an awards luncheon for staff and a motivational talk by Managing Director of Freemind Institute Inc., Errol Griffith on Friday, October 22 at the Savannah Hotel, Hastings, Christ Church at noon. clashley@barbados.gov.bb
