Come Monday, May 17, Barbados will join the rest of the world in celebrating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD).

The occasion will be marked by a week of events under the theme ???Better City, Better Life with ICT’s from May 10.

With the demand for information that is fast and accurate, telecommunications has become increasingly important in today’s world through such processes as e-government, information and communication technologies (ICT’s) and video conferencing.

There will be a service of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 16, at the Mount of Praise Wesleyan Holiness Church, Tudor Bridge, St. Michael, at 9:45 a.m.

The Telecommunications Unit of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment and some of the island’s major service providers will display a number of their products and services at an exhibition on Monday, May 17, WTISD, in Jubilee Gardens, the City, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The public is invited to participate and learn more about the benefits of Telecommunications to national development.
