Broadband for Sustainable Development will be the focus this week, as World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD) is observed on Friday, May 16.

The Telecommunications Unit began its WTISD celebrations last Sunday, with a church service held at St. Mary???s Church.

This week, a panel discussion on Broadband for Sustainable Development will be held, with activities culminating with an expo on Friday, May 16, in Heroes Square, Bridgetown, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The expo will feature demonstrations from various service providers, as well as special broadband services and other products on sale from Internet Service Providers.

This year???s WTISD theme seeks to highlight how the Internet and Information and Communication Technologies may contribute meaningfully to societies and economies, while bridging the digital divide.
