The CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Programme is the community’s institutional arrangement for deepening levels of youth partnership and participation in integration and development processes. It aims to create a cadre of young leaders equipped with knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to educate the youth about regional issues and empower them to take advantage of and contribute to opportunities under the Caribbean community’s programmes. The initiative also seeks to advocate for the rights of young people and for the development and implementation of sustainable national and regional policies and programmes.

Its purpose is also to integrate youth perspectives and encourage their participation in the community’s broader social and economic development systems and promote regional identity and citizenship among young people.

The main duties of the CARICOM Youth Ambassador are to promote advocacy, outreach and peer education. The ambassadors also contribute to technical and policy-making meetings convened by CARICOM organisations and partner agencies.
