Approximately 30 young women, aged 13 to 18 will get the opportunity to better equip themselves with life enhancing tools that would aid in healthy decision making.

This will come to fruition when they participate in a workshop on Saturday, March 10, at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will be conducted by the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP) to recognise International Women’s Day 2012 (IWD) which is being celebrated this Thursday, March 8.

Under the theme Connecting Girls: Inspiring Futures, the NTFCP, in its fourth year of commemorating IWD with its Girls Talk Workshop, will seek to create awareness of this very significant day as well as expose the young women to the challenges that may lie ahead and the best way of handling them.

According to an official at the organisation, "In hosting the workshop this year, the NTFCP will partner with the Wesleyan Holiness Church of Barbados as part of their bi-centennial celebrations.?? Through this partnership, it is shown that the church has an important role to play in the empowerment of our young people and crime prevention."

The seminar is an interactive one where a range of topics are covered including:?? Peer Pressure; Women and Crime; Good Money Sense; Etiquette and Social Graces; Self Esteem/Spirituality; Your Body & You/Sexuality and Charting a Career Path.????????

Participants for the workshop have already been selected and spaces are not available to members of the public.
