Prince’s Trust International and Corporate Barbados have been praised for their work in assisting Barbadian youth in gaining employment.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, speaking at the launch of the Diverse Get Hired 2022 Programme on Friday at the Hilton Barbados Resort, commended employers for doing their part to employ the youth of Barbados.

“I want to thank all of the employers who are here this morning for taking the opportunity to work with our future, literally our future.  From the beginning of this Ministry, I’ve been asking Corporate Barbados to embrace youth, to join us in terms of giving back and you have embraced that ….  I realise that a number of you have been involved in the process for a while, and I really, really want to salute you and thank you for doing that,” Mr. Griffith said.

He also highlighted the work of Prince’s Trust International and its partnership with the Ministry. “Prince’s Trust, I can’t say how much too, I appreciate the fact that you have decided to partner with our Ministry, in terms of what you’re doing for our young people here in Barbados.  I often speak about nursing untapped talent, …  and I’m privileged to be the Minister to be here today to speak to you in relation to this.

“I hope in a similar vein that more international organisations see it necessary to partner with us in terms of moving our young people to the next level, because it is critical, and it is absolutely important,” he emphasised.

Mr. Griffith noted that it was almost impossible for government to find employment for all of the youth exiting the various institutions every year, so the partnerships with its corporate citizens and Prince’s Trust International was “a good thing”.

The Courtyard by Marriott, Mango Bay Hotel, Lenstech Inc and Gallagher Insurance Brokers (Barbados) Ltd. were the entities represented at the launch of the  Diverse Get Hired 2022 Programme.
