The National Youth Policy should be completed and ready for implementation by the end of this year.

This was disclosed by Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Esworth Reid, as he addressed the final consultation and Symposium on the Draft National Youth Policy, at Alexandra School yesterday.

Mr. Reid said that the feedback from the consultations would be used to refine the document by the end of September, before presentation to the Minister for submission to cabinet, after which it will be laid in Parliament for debate.

"I am extremely happy that the final Draft National Youth Policy is being completed at a time when nations throughout the world are recognising the potent force that young people represent," the Youth official stated.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary urged Barbadians to "embrace this framework for action" and asserted that "[the National Youth Policy] will be a turning point in the development of Barbadian youth."
