Barbadians and other persons in the region will get the opportunity to learn first-hand about the progress of the implementation plan for the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), when Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley hosts a special town hall meeting next week.

The town hall meeting will be held on Monday, November 4, at the Walcott–Warner Theatre, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, St. Michael, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 

It will be carried live for distribution on cable and via satellite to terrestrial stations throughout the region by the Caribbean Media Corporation and UWI TV.

Members of the public will also be able to watch the meeting on various online platforms, including the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Facebook pages of the CARICOM Secretariat, the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation and the Barbados Government Information Service.

Speaking under the theme: “What is in it for me?”, Ms. Mottley, who has lead responsibility for the CSME in CARICOM’S quasi cabinet, will examine: Free Movement and Contingent Rights, Development of Skills within the Region and the Human Resource Development Strategy, Transportation, Trade Related Matters, CSME Implementation,and Financial Cooperation and Investment Policy.

Also taking part in the discussion will be CARICOM Secretary General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque; Principal of the University of the West Indies, Professor Eudine Barriteau; President of the Caribbean Development Bank, Dr. Warren Smith; and CARICOM Assistant Secretary General, Joseph Cox.

Communications Specialist, CSME Unit, Salas Hamilton, will be the moderator. The event is being coordinated by the CARICOM Secretariat, the Prime Minister’s Office, the University of the West Indies, and the Caribbean Development Bank.
