The Ministry of Energy and Business has launched its 2024 Energy Development Scholarship, and members of the public may now apply.

Citizens of Barbados between 21 and 45 years old, who have been accepted to pursue full-time postgraduate master’s studies at accredited international universities for the 2024-2025 academic year, may apply for the scholarship.

Applicants must be pursuing studies in areas related to the development of this island’s Offshore Energy Sector. 

The main areas of study are Geology and Geophysics; Petroleum/Coastal/Offshore Engineering; Health, Safety and Environment in the Energy Sector; Petroleum/Energy Economics; Petroleum/Maritime/Energy Law; Data Science in the Energy Sector; Coastal Dynamics and Oceanography; Energy Management; Energy Transition; Sustainable Energy Solutions; Utility-Scale Energy Storage; and Management of Utility Power Grids.

Application forms should be obtained from the office of the Ministry of Energy and Business at Trinity Business Centre, Country Road, St. Michael, or online via the Ministry’s website www.energy.gov.bb

Completed application forms with supporting documents must be returned to the Ministry or emailed to energyinfo@barbados.gov.bb, by Monday, July 15. For further information, persons may contact the Ministry at 535-2505, or visit its website.

The scholarship is being funded by the Ministry’s offshore licensee, Woodside Energy. Adeko Collymore and Kyle Nero won the inaugural scholarship last year and they are currently completing studies in the United Kingdom.
