Barbadians and others keen on improving their skills in screenwriting, audio and lighting skills are invited to participate in a series of workshops to be held, over the next few weeks, by the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC), the Barbados Cultural Industries Development Authority and the Barbados Film Commission.

The series starts this weekend with a screenwriting workshop from Saturday, March 24, to Sunday, March, 25, at Building #2, Harbour Industrial Estate, Bridgetown. It runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, and is aimed at teaching specific skills of screenwriting to emerging filmmakers and some practitioners.

Facilitator for the two-day session will be experienced Barbadian writer, producer and director, Rommel Hall, renowned for the documentary on Winston Hall, known as Hall. He is the holder of an MA in Film Producing from the University of South Wales, Cardiff.

While the public is asked to note that this particular workshop is already heavily subscribed, the BIDC has urged interested persons to consider the other two upcoming workshops to be convened at the same venue.

These are workshops on Audio Production and Lighting Production that will be held on April 14 and 15; and April 21 and 22, respectively. Participants will be charged a registration fee on arrival at all workshops.

For further information and registration forms, interested persons may contact Film Commissioner, Annette Nias, at 243-5294 and by emailing projectsbarbados@gmail.com, or BIDC’s Business Development Officer, Allan Lange, at 427-5350 and by emailing alange@bidc.org.
