Asthma Lecture To Be Held May 5

The Asthma Association of Barbados will host a free public lecture on Tuesday, May 5 to mark World Asthma Day.

The Association, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, has invited Dr. Vincent Hutchinson, president of the Caribbean American Medical and Scientific Association Inc., to be the featured speaker.

Dr. Hutchinson, who is a paediatrician, allergist and immunologist, will speak on the topic Improving Asthma Outcomes In School-aged Children Using A Multi-faceted Intervention Strategy.

The lecture takes place at the Courtyard By Marriott, Hastings Christ Church at 6:00 p.m.

Ivy Community Centre To Host Community Day

The Community Development Department along with the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, will be hosting an Ivy Community Day.The event which will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at the Ivy Community Centre, Ivy, St. Michael, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

There will be free health checks, clothing, beauty services such as manicures and pedicures as well as football, road tennis, and netball competitions.??Food and drinks will be on sale.??For further information, persons may contact the Ivy Community Centre at 427-6916.

The Changing Face Of Health Care Lecture On April 22

???Outsourcing: The Changing Face of Health Care Provision and Medical Practice??? will be the topic of a lecture to be delivered by Dr. Henderson Carter, on Wednesday, April 22, at the Queen???s Park Steel Shed, at 7:00 p.m.

The lecture is the sixth in the series ???Of Distempers, Diagnoses and Development: The Provision of Medical Services in Barbados???, being hosted by the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, the University of the West Indies??? Department of History and Philosophy, and the National Cultural Foundation.

The lectures will continue every Wednesday at the Queen???s Park Steel Shed at 7:00 p.m., and will end on Wednesday, May 6. Further information may be obtained by calling the Barbados Museum and Historical Society at 427-0201, or emailing info@barbmuse.org.bb.
