Following an overwhelming response to its schools’ programme last year, the Ministry of Labour will again be visiting several schools across the island promoting its GIVE initiative, which focuses on appropriate standards of behavior in the workplace.
GIVE, an acronym for Great attitudes, Initiative, Values and Excellence, is the Labour Ministry’s contribution to the National Initiative for Service Excellence.
The programme focuses on several areas of professional conduct including attitude, attendance, honesty and integrity, deportment, performance, communication and customer service.
The school’s component uses drama as a tool to instill the core values of GIVE – punctuality, protection of property, personality, perfect attendance, and positive attitude.
The schools which will be involved in the programme this month are the Lodge on Monday, October 6;
The following month will see Ministry officials visit St. Michael’s School on Monday, November 03; Westbury Primary on Friday, November 07;
Ministry officials had reported a positive response to the pilot phase of the school’s programme last year when some ten schools took part.
