PM Stuart Receives Farewell Call From Chinese Ambassador

The harmonious relationship between Barbados and China has come in for high praise from the outgoing Chinese Ambassador, Wei Qiang.??????????

During a farewell call on Prime Minister Freundel Stuart at Ilaro Court today, the Ambassador lauded the island’s economic and social development after Independence as well as the educational achievements of Barbadians.

In turn, the Prime Minister singled out tangible commitments such as the replacement of the electronic scoreboard at the Garfield Sobers Sport Complex and other ventures as "gestures which Barbados value that would go a long way to deepening the relationship with China".

Mr. Stuart also conveyed thanks for the hospitality extended to him during his trip to China last year.

Barbados and China established diplomatic ties on May 30, 1977.
