As at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, there were 57 patients in isolation facilities (seven in primary isolation and 50 in secondary).
Of these, 35 patients (61 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 21 (37 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised seven persons in primary and 28 in secondary isolation. All 21 patients who were fully vaccinated, were in secondary isolation. One person, in secondary isolation, was partially vaccinated for COVID-19.
Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment with primary isolation housing the most severely ill.
Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
