Most of the Barbadian athletes who represented the island at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham have returned home.

Almost 60 of the athletes returned from England between Sunday, August 7, and Tuesday, August 9.

They represented Team Barbados in Birmingham in athletics, judo, badminton, cricket, netball, table tennis, boxing, squash, swimming and the triathlon.

The athletes were met on arrival by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Yolande Howard; Director of the National Sports Council, Neil Murrell; Deputy Director of the National Sports Council, Emmerson Bascombe, and Senior Sports Development Officer, Stephen Rowe.

A total of 99 athletes and officials journeyed to Birmingham, and Team Barbados came away with one gold, a silver and a bronze medal from the games. The Chef De Mission was Cyril Burke.
