Vendors licensed by the National Conservation Commission (NCC) are reminded that their licences will be up for renewal by June 30.

Those holding licence books that remain unpaid prior to June 30 are urged to update their licences immediately, in order to continue operating without disruption.

Vendors are also reminded that they must submit a recent Police Certificate of Character as part of the renewal process.  They may apply for their Certificate of Character online by clicking here .

The NCC has warned that a failure by vendors to renew their licences by June 30 contravenes Section 16 of the National Conservation Commission Act CAP 393, which states: “Any person who desires to operate a business of selling goods or services in a public park, in a public garden or on a beach shall first obtain from the Commission a licence for the purpose.”  Failure to do so will be considered as a lack of interest to continue to operate.

Vendors are further reminded that their licence is valid for use by the holder at the place, for a period of one year.  The holder of the licence is permitted to sell only the goods and or services listed on page three in the licence book, and the licence is not transferrable to any other person.

The licence holder shall, when exercising the trade or calling in respect of which the licence is issued, display an identification card in a conspicuous place so that it may easily be seen by any customer, officer or servant of the Commission, parish constable or member of the Barbados Police Service.

In addition, the holder of the licence shall not fight, use abusive language, or engage in unlawful behaviour of any kind on the beach, park or any other area designated by the Commission as a market place. Failure to adhere to the above conditions will result in the revocation or suspension of the licence.
