Barbadians and visitors are encouraged to attend the Co-operatives Market (Co-op Mart) on Thursday, April 27, on the grounds of the Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Hosted by the Co-operatives Department and the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO), it is being held to mark World Intellectual Property (IP) Day, observed annually on April 26.

This year’s theme is Women and Intellectual Property – Accelerating Innovation and Creativity, and special emphasis will be placed on the entrepreneurial capabilities of women in co-operatives and small businesses.

Officials from CAIPO will be available to share information on intellectual property and for consultations.  Members of the public will get an opportunity to win tokens and prizes by participating in an IP challenge.

During the day, innovative goods and services will be showcased by Women Entrepreneurs Co-operative Society Limited, Ujamaa, as well as Pinnacle and Pig Farmers’ Co-operatives.

Free health checks will be provided by the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados. A number of items will be on sale and there will be sampling of vegetarian foods and pork dishes.
