At approximately 5:25 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023 there occurred what is presently being investigated as an accidental death at the Port of Bridgetown.
At this time, we have established that the incident occurred during a cargo vessel operation. There has been one fatality reported. We are devastated at this loss, as the safety of our employees is always our primary priority.
We are in contact with the victim’s family and we are doing everything we can to support them. We are also providing counsel for our employees. Barbados Port Inc. is co-operating with the authorities as investigations into the incident continue.
As a result of this incident the opening of the Port of Bridgetown will be delayed today.
