Some young people will get an opportunity to show off their talents when the National Peace Program (NPP) hosts the Playing for Peace Series 2, this weekend, at Dover Playing Field, Dover, Christ Church.

Football matches will be played on Friday, February 23, while there will be a cricket match on Saturday, February 24. They will begin at 7:30 p.m.

And Acting Director of the NPP, Alison Roach Plummer, said the Program will partner with several stakeholders to ensure both events go smoothly, and she has encouraged members of the public to come out and support the young people of this country.

Mrs. Roach Plummer underscored the importance of fostering peace within communities across the island and emphasised the critical role sports play in this regard.

“Fostering peace within communities across the island is one of the main objectives of the National Peace Program, and the Playing for Peace Series promotes a message of hope and safety while engaging high-risk and vulnerable youths throughout society on a large scale.

“The Playing for Peace Series 2 will see two very exciting sports disciplines come together in an effort to foster deeper community outreach links, as the National Peace Program continues to engage the youth of Barbados in positive ways,” the acting Director explained.

She expressed the view that youth engagement has been gaining positive strides throughout the island, and is pleased at this outcome.
