Sixteen students at the Ann Hill School are a step closer to joining the workforce after graduating from the Pathways Employability Programme.

They received their certificates during a ceremony held yesterday at the Courtyard by Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church.

The programme, which is coordinated by the Division of Youth, focuses on giving young people the opportunity to learn and develop soft skills needed for the work environment.

In acknowledging the success of the students, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, noted that the Ministry was there for all youth. He said: “As we celebrate the accomplishments of our youth today, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity in all aspects of our programmes.”

Mr. Griffith also reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to providing continuous support and opportunities for growth beyond the completion of the current programme.

“We urge our youth to view this programme as a stepping stone towards greater opportunities. Our Ministry remains steadfast in our commitment to providing ongoing support and resources to ensure the continued success and empowerment of our youth,” he said.

Principal of the Ann Hill School, Emelda Bell, indicated that this “version of the programme was designed specifically with our children in mind”.

Mrs. Bell said the students participated in interactive sessions, which focused on teamwork, communication, work ethics, workplace etiquette, money management, and budgeting.

She stated that it was a delight to see the students listening and asking questions as well as sharing their perspectives and prior knowledge during the programme.

The Principal expressed her gratitude to the Minister and his team for giving students the opportunity to be part of the programme and added that she would like to see more students at the school benefit from it in the future.
