(FP)

Applications are now being accepted for persons who wish to teach the Ministry of Energy and Business’ National Financial Literacy Programme, which will be executed in primary and secondary schools for the new academic year.

The schools’ programme, FLITE, will be implemented from September 2024 to July 2025, and conducted during regular school hours.

Applications, accompanied by a curriculum vitae or résumé and two recent testimonials, should be emailed to Programme Coordinator, Corey Worrell, at corey.worrell@barbados.gov.bb, by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 9. Persons with experience teaching business, finance, or accounting topics are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants must attend the facilitators’ training, team building and orientation sessions before the official start of the programme. They will receive a Facilitators’ Package which contains a teaching schedule, FLITE toolkit, and other resources pertinent to the efficient execution of their duties.

The primary objective of the schools’ programme is to increase financial literacy among students, to better equip them to make more informed, strategic, and wise financial decisions.

Some of the topics to be discussed are saving for the future, earning an income, buying on a budget, borrowing and lending, and preparing for risks.
