Young people will soon get an opportunity to show off their culinary skills as well as their sporting talent during an upcoming Youth Community Tournament.
It will be held on Saturday, November 16, at the car park behind Kensington Mall, Fontabelle, St. Michael, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Members of the public, especially the youth, are encouraged to participate in the activities.
There will be various competitions and board games, including draughts, dominoes, backgammon and road tennis, and professionals will be available to assist the young people to hone their skills.
Persons will also get the opportunity to showcase their artistic skill with a makeover contest, which will challenge female participants to creatively use Independence colours in their presentations.
This event aims to provide a positive outlet for young people to promote teamwork and collaborate towards fostering peaceful relations among themselves. It also serves as a platform to support talent, encourage healthy competition, enhance community engagement, and build essential life skills, such as discipline and perseverance.
The Youth Community Tournament is being sponsored by the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit and the National Peace Program, in observance of Crime Awareness Month. This year’s theme is Engaging Youth to Prevent Offending and Reoffending.
