Town hall meetings for the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination (BSSEE) 2023 will be held this month, beginning Thursday, January 5.

The meetings, which are hosted annually by the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT), will sensitise parents/guardians and teachers about the processes involved in the administration of the BSSEE, familiarly known as the 11 Plus or Common Entrance Examination.

Education officials will give instructions on how to complete the online registration form for the choice of school, and provide guidance on the deferral and special requests forms, among other things. All meetings begin at 5:00 p.m.

The first two familiarisation sessions will be held on Thursday, January 5 at the Lester Vaughan School, Cane Garden, St. Thomas, and Grantley Adams Memorial School, Blackman’s, St. Joseph.

The team of education officials will then travel to Daryll Jordan Secondary School, Trents, St. Lucy, and Alexandra School, Queen’s Street, Speighstown, St. Peter, on Saturday, January 7.

On Tuesday, January 10, the sessions will be held at St. George Primary School, Constant, St. George, and St. John Primary School, Glebe Land, St. John.

These will be followed by meetings on Thursday, January 12, at Bay Primary School, Bayville, St. Michael, and West Terrace Primary School, West Terrace, St. James.

On Saturday, January 14, the meetings will move to Christ Church Foundation School, Church Hill, Christ Church, and Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Roads, St. Philip.

On Tuesday, January 17, the team from the Ministry will host the sessions at Combermere School, Waterford, St. Michael, and A. DaCosta Edwards Primary School, Belleplaine, St. Andrew.

The series of BSSEE town hall meetings will conclude at Deighton Griffith School, Kingsland, Christ Church and The St. Michael School, Martindales Road, St. Michael, on Thursday, January 19.

Parents/guardians of students writing this year’s exam are encouraged by the METVT to attend any session considered convenient.
