The Love Poetry and Song Charity Concert will come off this Saturday, February 17, on the lawns of the Drill Hall Beach Range, Barbados Defence Force, St. Ann’s Fort, Historic Garrison, St. Michael.
The star-studded cast of Barbadian singers and spoken word artistes will begin performing promptly at 6:00 p.m., while the venue’s doors open at 5:00 p.m.
Now in its seventh year, the Love Poetry and Song charity concert is organised by the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) to raise funds, food and toiletry items for the HIV Food Bank, while sensitising persons about sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV and AIDS, safe sex, stigma and discrimination through entertainment.
Performing at this year’s concert will be Blood, Mikey, Adrian Clarke, Biggie Irie, RPB, Tabitha, John Yarde, Neesha Woodz, Larix, Alix Cage, Wesley Morris, Lynn & Kyle, Daniel Lashley, CS Cloud 9, Troy Arthur, DJ Diamond, DJ Simmons, Daveny Ellis, Gigi Farier, Empress Zingha and Stoned with Cupid.
Once again, patrons will have the opportunity to win exciting door prizes. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early with their blankets or chairs, along with their donations of food and toiletry items for the HIV Food Bank.
Entry to the event will be at the “Top Gate”, which is located on the road to the Drill Hall Beach Range, opposite the Garrison Savannah and Hastings Police Station.
Admission by tickets is $25 for adults and $10 for children ages five to 16. Adults will pay more at the door but the children’s price will remain at $10. There will be no charge for children under the age of five.
