Barbados and the State of Kuwait have taken another step towards strengthening their relationship.
On Thursday, June 1, Barbados’ Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Gabriel Abed, presented his Letters of Credence to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, during an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait City.
Ambassador Abed, who is based in Abu Dhabi, will serve as non-resident Ambassador to the State of Kuwait.
Following the presentation, the two officials exchanged views on ways to enhance the relationship between Barbados and Kuwait, including a visa waiver agreement, an air services agreement, job opportunities, and access to capital for economic development.
Also during the meeting, the Kuwait Foreign Minister recalled when he represented his nation for over 15 years as a non-resident Ambassador to a CARICOM Member State. Ambassador Abed expressed his keenness in playing an important role in furthering the relations between the two countries.
Barbados and the State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations on August 22, 1995.
