Training for policemen in financial crime and strengthening bilateral relations with Italy were some of the issues discussed today, when Italian Financial and Economic Attaché, Colonel Gabriele Gargano, who is based at the Embassy in Panama, paid Attorney General Dale Marshall a courtesy call.

The meeting was held at the Office of Attorney General in Wildey, and attended by Permanent Secretary Yvette Goddard; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ian Branch; Inspector Sonia Thompson, and Italy’s Honorary Consul, Paola Baldi, among others.

Mr. Marshall underscored the importance of training for The Barbados Police Service.  He shared that Barbados had recently reached out to the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Canada to request training assistance for lawmen and they readily agreed to provide some support.

“Training in financial crimes is very important to Barbados and we would welcome any assistance from Italy in this area,” the Attorney General stated.

During the talks, the officials also discussed other areas in which they could collaborate.
