Persons interested in becoming facilitators for the Ministry of Energy and Business’ National Financial Literacy Programme are reminded that they must submit applications by 4:30 p.m., tomorrow, Friday, August 9.

Applications, accompanied by a curriculum vitae or résumé and two recent testimonials, should be emailed to Programme Coordinator, Corey Worrell, at corey.worrell@barbados.gov.bb. Persons with experience teaching business, finance, or accounting topics are encouraged to apply.

Phase two of the schools’ programme, FLITE, will be implemented in several primary and secondary schools from September 2024.

The pilot phase of the initiative was launched earlier this year, and Second Form students in seven secondary schools and those in Class Two at six primary schools were taught about financial literacy, in partnership with Affinity Plus Credit Union Limited.

The primary objective of FLITE is to increase financial literacy among students, so they are better equipped to make educated, deliberate, and wise financial decisions.

Some of the topics to be discussed are Saving for the Future, Earning an Income, Buying on a Budget, Borrowing and Lending, and Preparing for Risks.
