The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) will host a number of activities next week to promote the new products and services of the Agricultural Services Division.
The activities are being held at the BADMC’s Fairy Valley Plantation, Christ Church headquarters, under the theme: Farm Gate to Plate – A Celebration of Sectoral Progress.
The highlight will be the official launch of the BADMC’s Crop Value Chain Services: The Pack House, the Farm Shop Annex and Cassava Cultivation Equipment, on Wednesday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Dr. David Estwick, will deliver the feature address. There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of the new facilities.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, the private sector, leaders of Non-Governmental Organisations and the agricultural sector will also attend the launch.
In addition, on Thursday, November 23, a Farmers’ Forum, targeting farmers with small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as those involved in commercial farming and production, will be held. This is slated to run from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the BADMC’s headquarters at Fairy Valley Plantation, Christ Church.
The Farmers’ Forum will feature two presentations: Adaptable Seed Varieties for Barbados, to be conducted by PanDia Seeds Inc.; and Care of Cucurbits by Caribbean Chemicals Agencies Ltd.
There will also be a field demonstration on the trial plot at the Fairy Valley Plantation.
