The Community Development Department’s Baje to the World talent show moves to another level this weekend with the recording of two performance challenges on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at the Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre.

The 15 contestants will perform either soca or calypso for Challenge 1, and spouge or local music for Challenge 2 for a place in the semi-finals.

Saturday’s challenges will test the versatility and creativity of the artistes, as well as highlight their growth through their participation in the programme’s developmental workshops that commenced on January 15th, 2022, following their selection by judges Malcolm “X” Small, Astra Babb, Philip Forrester and renowned calypsonian and veteran artiste, Terencia Coward, on January 8th, 2022.

Facilitators of the workshops included artistes and members of corporate Barbados. In addition, the 15 aspiring international entertainers have each been assigned mentors, persons with years of experience in the music and entertainment industry, to help guide them through three challenges.

Contestants in the Baje to the World Season 2 are competing for a chance to win $20,000 in cash and other prizes, as well as a chance to perform internationally with world-renowned soca artistes Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin.

The public is invited to support local talent and watch Baje to the World TV Series on CBC TV 8 every Saturday at 9:03 p.m.  For more information and to follow this season, visit @bajetotheworld on Facebook and @bajetoworld on Instagram or contact the Community Development Department.
