The temporary suspension on the importation and licensing of remotely piloted aircraft systems, also known as unmanned aircraft systems or drones, has been extended for an additional six months, effective April 1, 2020.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Cabinet also approved a temporary suspension on the importation of parts used to assemble drones for the same period.
Temporary exemptions will be done on a case by case basis for drones which may be imported and exported immediately after use.
This suspension has been in place since March 1, 2016. The legal framework for the use of drones is being discussed by the Chief Parliamentary Counsel.
