Director of Sports at the National Sports Council, Mr. Neil Murrell, has been selected by UNESCO’s Conference of Parties (COP8) Bureau, as Chairperson of the Task Force on the Improvement and Refinement of the Convention’s Monitoring System (AD Logic System).
This is the first time a Barbadian has held this position on matters related to the International Convention Against Doping in Sport since its inception in 2007.
This monitoring tool of the Anti-Doping Convention is the online self-assessment Anti-Doping Logic (ADLogic) questionnaire. Compliance with the Convention is measured through 21 principal questions of the ADLogic questionnaire, covering the four thematic areas of the Convention:
- National activities to strengthen Anti-Doping
- International cooperation
- Education and training
- Research
Mr. Murrell will lead a team of global national anti-doping experts to facilitate improvement to the current system and the resulting report will be presented at the COP9 General Assembly in 2023.
Mr. Murrell is a very experienced anti-doping practitioner, having been a former Secretary of the National Anti-Doping Commission (NADC), former Regional Administrator of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) and an international Doping Control Officer with over 20 years’ experience.
Currently, Mr. Murrell serves as a member of UNESCO’s Approval Committee, with Barbados representing the Americas region.
