The Barbados Consulate in Miami, in association with Carrie-Lynn Grazette Cancer Foundation, will be hosting an outreach programme called ‘Barbados Comes to Atlanta’ (BCTA), this weekend, from Friday, May 26 to Monday, May 29, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Consul General, Rudy Grant who is leading the Barbados delegation, explained that before the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Barbados Comes To” events were traditionally held on a biennial basis to engage with the Barbadian diaspora, and have been successful to date.

Previous events were held in Amelia Island, Florida (2009), Charleston, South Carolina (2011), West Palm Beach, Florida (2013), Atlanta, Georgia (2016, to coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of independence), and Tampa, Florida 2017.

Atlanta was chosen to restart the outreach programme and Consul General Grant noted that events scheduled are aimed at providing elements of Barbadian history, culture and heritage to visitors and residents of Atlanta.

The aim is to provide an atmosphere that establishes and/or nurtures relationships between business and heritage agencies in Barbados and Atlanta; create business opportunities for persons and agencies in Barbados with their counterparts in the USA, and give exposure to Barbadian artistes.

Some of the events scheduled for the weekend include a business forum with participation from Barbadian businesses, a networking reception, a Constitution Review Commission town hall session, a Blue and Gold Gala, and a Bridgetown Market Day.
