The Barbados Poppy League, in collaboration with the National Cultural Foundation, will hold a free sunset band concert for the public as a “thank you” for supporting the work of the organisation over the past 100 years. The event takes place on Saturday, October 22, in Golden Square, The City, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Among the artistes slated to perform are: Paula Hinds, Sister Magrita Marshall, Weslon Samuels, Mickey Dee, Diamond Applewhite, Yahandje Daniel, the Barbados Defence Force Band and the Hearts Aflame Steel Orchestra of the St. Augustine’s Anglican Church.

Souvenirs will be on sale and donations will be taken during the concert. The public is encouraged to give generously as the funds will be used to assist with the veterans’ medical bills, house repairs, the provision of small stipends and the provision of daily meals, among other needs.
